Mrs. Johnston's Assignments for April 6-10

8th grade Current Events 7th period--Attachments are in Google Classroom
Students should go online to Junior Scholastic.com and log in as a student using the password birdzoo8648 . Browse and read through the articles and complete the attached (3) workbook pages by using the answer sheet I have provided. The workbook page with the map of China is from an article that was deleted from the issue because the information was outdated, but the information you need to complete the map is on the map. When you have completed the 3 pages, you may either take a picture of the answer sheet and text it to me, you may scan it in and email it to me, or when I can find out how you can upload assignments to Google Classroom, I will change this part of the sentence!!! See, I have things to learn too!!

Also, with so much COVID 19 news out there, I would like for you to daily watch the CNN Student News that you have watched with Mrs. Ray this year. Just make a daily note on the answer sheet about one thing you learn from this each day.

Also, I would like for you to check with your parents that they have completed their 2020 Census form. It only took me about 5 minutes to do mine online, or they should have received a paper census to mail in if they prefer. It is important for our state in the money that the federal government contributes to Alabama and the number of representatives we are given in the US House of Representatives. Please check on the bottom of the CNN News sheet if they have completed their civic duty!!

7th Grade Geography
Attached you will find several maps with instructions on them. Attachments are in Google Classroom.
1. The map on wb p. 29A is entitled 5 Regions of Canada. You should color each region according to the directions on the top of wb p. 28; remember to color the map key in the bottom corner. (See the image I uploaded.)
2. On the wb p. 29B called 13 Provinces and Territories you should label the map according to the directions at the top of p.28. Then lightly color each of the 13 Provinces and Territories.  (See the image I uploaded.)
3. Next, on a separate piece of paper, make a T chart labeled capital and provinces/territories at the top, and list the 13 provinces and territories with the name of the capital (Toronto, Ontario).
4. On the bottom of wb p. 28, write the name of the region under the description of the characteristics.
5. On Wb p. 30, write the number of the place from the top of the page in the correct circle in the map.
6. On wb pages 20 and 21, I have provided an answer sheet for you to write your answers on. All the information you need to complete the work on these 2 pages are on these pages (not in the book, not on the other wb pages).

7. I am going to upload a video I want you to view that discusses all the above and the Chapter 8 Guided Reading pages from March 30-April 3. Make copies or take pictures of those pages before turning them in on Monday.
