9 Wks tests are Tuesday-Thursday of this week.

6th grade--9 wks test on Tuesday, Dec. 17. Chapters 11 Less 1-4  and Chapter 12 Less 1 and 2.
We are going shopping for our foster child on Friday, Dec. 20 and then having lunch at Zaxby's. We will be back by early 12 noon dismissal. Please send the $15 to $20 donation for the shopping by Wednesday this week.

7th grade--9 wks test on Wednesday, Dec. 18 on Chapters 8 and 9.

8th grade--9 wks test Wednesday, Dec. 18 on Ch 2 Lessons 2-4 and Ch 3 Less 1.

9th grade--Semester exam on  Thursday, Dec. 19.

Well here we are! 9 weeks exams are upon us. Since Saxon Math is always cumulative all lessons 1-35 are fair game for this test. I told the students today to make sure they can do the practice sets for lessons 1-35 and they should be able to pass the test. 7th grade will take the test Tuesday and 8th grade will take the test Thursday. Hope you all have a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Talk to you again next year!!!

Science News Dec. 9-20

There are few students that need to tweak their science fair plan a bit. I wrote notes on their description paragraph to help them with ideas. If you have questions. please contact me. I'll be glad to help.

If you haven't done so, please make your child an account on Quizizz.com before Friday. I plan to give them games they can use to study for 9 weeks tests. Look for the blog post from last week titled ' "Science Quizizz.com," for the code for each class. If you have trouble, I will help your child during break.

6th grade

The 9 week test will be on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 8:15. It will cover chapter 6-10. Each day this week we are writing notes for past chapters and covering a section of chapter 10. 

7th grade

The 9 weeks test will be on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 8:15. It will cover chapters 4-8. Each day this week we are writing notes for past chapters and covering a section of chapter 8.

We have decided that we would like to have our homeroom party after the test on Tuesday. We are hoping for breakfast food, drinks and Christmas karaoke. I will post a sign up sheet in the room for supplies. 

8th grade

Remember Big/Little Chief Ornaments should be sent to school by Wednesday, wrapped and labeled with names and grades. The swap will not be until Monday, December 16.

Senior Citizen Center Items such as socks, lotion, shampoo, soap, and other personal care items should be sent by Monday, December 16.

7th Grade--Finishing Chapter 9 Less 1 and 2. Test on Friday, December 13. 9 weeks test for 7th grade will be Wednesday, December 18 and will cover Chapters 8 and 9.

8th Grade--Working on Chapter 3 Lesson 1. Map test and geography test on ancient India on Friday, December 13. 8th grade history 9 weeks test is Wednesday, December 18 and will cover Egypt, Minor Civilizations, and Ancient India.

9th Grade--Semester Exam is Thursday, December 19. It will be open note test. BE SURE TO BRING YOUR NOTEBOOK!!

6th grade: We will finish reading Fever 1793 this week! Make sure your child keeps up with us-I had some low grades on a recent pop quiz! By Monday, all students should be read up through chapter 26. Wednesday we will attend Cinderella in Columbus, and Thursday is our Coffeehouse. Please send your items by Tuesday unless it is perishable. We will begin reviewing for 9 weeks test Friday. Your child should have all of his/her old test papers for preparing for these tests. 6th grade 9 weeks test is next Thursday, 8:15-10:15

7th grade: We will be watching "A Christmas Carol" & reading other Christmas stories.We will begin reviewing for 9 weeks test, hope Friday. Your child should have all of his/her old test papers for preparing for these tests. 7th grade 9 weeks test is next Wednesday, 8:15-10:15

8th grade: We will be completing the short story "The Lady, or the Tiger?" and reading "The Sniper."

This week we will have a cover lessons 33-35. We will have a test and notebook check on Thursday 12/13. Our 9 weeks exam will be Tuesday, 12/17 for 2nd period (7th grade) and Thursday, 12/19 for 5th period (8th grade). This exam will have 35 questions and will cover lessons 1-35. Students will have 2 hours to complete the test.

I have discovered a fabulous website I am using for review. It is called Quizizz. There is a free app you can download, but you can play without it. You do have to have an account to join my class though. When students have an account I have  access to their results on games I assign. I suggest that students use the email address they use for computer class when setting up their account. When you also include a parent email, you will receive result emails also. Please also ask them to make their user name the name I call them to be sure I give credit where credit is due. I have listed an invitation code for each grade below. The link expires two weeks from today. If you find this information after Dec. 19, message me and I will regenerate another invitation link.

Mrs. Johnston's News and Assignments for Dec. 2-6

Thank you for all the kind wishes for my son, Davis, and new daughter-in-law, Erin, on their wedding and for the sweet condolences in the loss of my precious 98 year old grandmother. Life...joy and sorrow!!

6th Grade--Chapter 12 Lessons 1 and 2 on US expansion. Big Chiefs and Little Chiefs are swapping ornaments instead of gifts this year. Wrapped ornaments with Big Chief's name are due in class by December 11 to be exchanged on Dec 16. In addition, SGA is asking Big and Little Chiefs to donate one item for the Senior Center (lotion, shampoo, socks, gloves, etc). 6th grade students are in charge of bringing a bags of oranges on 12/9 for food boxes which are being donated. Finally, I will send a letter home explaining what 6th grade will do for Christmas instead of a Christmas party.

7th Grade--Executive Branch Chapter 9

9th Grade--Renaissance Artists and Works Test is Friday, Dec. 6.

Science News Dec 2-9,2019

Science fair paragraphs detailing plans for the fair are due this week. If you need to look back at the handout, it is in a blog post entitled, "Science Fair Handout" dated October 31.


The 9 Week test for science is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 18. If your student wants to start reviewing, they can use study guides for the chapters listed below. I will get more specific with information next week.

6th grade

The sixth grade is studying fossils in chapter 9 this week. If you have any fossils your student would like to share, please send them this week.

Chapter 9 test will be, Mon., Dec. 9.

The 9 week test will cover chapters 6-10.

7th grade

We are finishing up chapter 7 this week, learning about the classification of living things.

Chapter 7 test will be, Friday, Dec. 6.

The 9 week test will cover chapters 4-7.
8th grade

We are working on chapter 8 about solubility and the pH scale.

Chapter 8 test will be Monday, Dec. 9.

The 9 week test will cover chapter 5-8.

Computer Science - Ms. Mitchell - December 2-5

Welcome back!  I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! We have a lot of material to cover in the next 3 weeks so please make sure your student is here and focused.  Middle school grades will continue working in PowerPoint this week.  Students will receive notes on Tuesday for a written test scheduled for Thursday.  Students will also complete a PowerPoint from an outline for a test grade on Friday so there will be two test grades this week.
