Mrs. Kim Beaty Assignments Sept 16-20

It's hard to believe we are in our 5th week! Please check STI. If you would like to schedule a teacher's conference, call or text me at 334-695-4185

We do bell ringers every day. If your child needs an easy A, he/she should submit bell ringers on Friday. Students should do these even if absent! The BR is usually reinforcement of the vocabulary words.

6th-9th-Vocabulary quizzes every Friday!

We have been studying theme and symbolism in 6th-9th grade. We have listened to songs with themes and completed worksheets. We will have a test on these terms Tuesday!

We are writing paragraphs and essays. I try to teach a fail-proof way to write an essay!

6th-8th grades will begin watching videos about "What Makes America Great?" The Patriot's Pen is using this theme this year. We will write some of it in class, but feel free to help at home. Criteria: 300-400 words. Typed. 30 pts. knowledge of theme; 35 pts. development of theme; 35 pts. clarity of ideas. Do not put name on essay-I have a cover letter for each student. These are due October 24th!

Problems:
Too much talking in 6th & 7th grades. Students are not entering classroom quietly and beginning bell ringer.
Breaking pens & pencils in 8th grade. Really? Yes, Really! How old are these boys?
6th, 7th, & 8th-not paying attention and taking notes. Remind your Chief about the purpose of school-to learn! Play time is at break, lunch, PE, and after school!

Celebrate:

Mrs. Hannah Tapley (Cale Washington's mother) gave each 7th grader a planner! They are fantastic! Make sure your 7th grader is keeping up with his/her assignments and special dates!
