Mrs. Beaty's Assignments September 30-October 4

I'm so glad October is almost here!

Last week was a crazy week of Homecoming festivities. We made a lot of great memories, but I am glad it happens only one time each year! Thanks for not rolling my yard!!!!

We missed our vocabulary tests Thursday because I had to leave school for a family emergency. My step dad was diagnosed with lung cancer, and it has spread to his bones. I had to make a quick trip to Opelika to check on him and my mom. Although he is a very young 80 years old, he has chosen not to pursue any treatments. My mom is devastated, so please be in prayer for her and Mr. Jimmy as they live day to day knowing his time on earth is almost over. We all rejoice knowing he will spend eternity with his Lord and Savior.

We will have the 5-word vocabulary test that we missed Thursday, this Tuesday, and we will have our regular test Friday. Remember: We have last week's words and this week's new words which make a total of 10 words Friday.

We will have bell ringers this week. Ask your Chief if he/she is keeping up with them. It takes approximately 3 minutes to complete. If your child has a zero in STI for a bell ringer, it is because he/she does not come in to class, get seated, and get busy. It is a VERY easy assignment and is in the 20% category.

We will be finishing our essays this week. The final copy is due Wednesday. We will begin prepping for the Patriot's Pen contest. You may help your Chief at home if you would like to because it is not possible to get a quality essay with the time we have available in class. The topic is "What Makes America Great?" You may Youtube "Patriot's Pen Speeches" for ideas. They are due October 24.

I have been promising to watch the movies that go along with summer reading. Maybe it will happen this week.

We do not have school, Monday, October 7. Teachers and staff will be attending professional development in Montgomery.

Pee Wee & JV games this Tuesday at Chambers!

The Junior Class will be selling Burger King biscuits each Wednesday, $2.00.

The Junior Class is hosting a Corn Hole Tournament, Friday, October 11, 5:00 p.m. in the gym. The entry fee is $30/team. Contact Kristy Parker, Julie Bailey, or Kim Beaty for more information. The deadline to sign up is October 9th. Help us raise money for the prom by participating in this fun event!

Congratulations to the Chiefs for the big win against ACA Friday night, and congratulations to Sloan Seaborn for being elected our Homecoming queen!
